MAKE IT PERSONAL You are the perfect person to talk to your friends, colleagues and family about what makes Mary Lake so special. Why do you care about preserving this special piece of Nature? Tell your contacts that story and they're sure to agree to help. Sample recruitment email: Copy and paste this email, personalise it to tell your Mary Lake story and to link to your team page (you only need to edit the items in <<arrow brackets>>), then send it those people who you think will also want to help turn the dream of Mary Lake Nature Park into a reality.
As you may already know, I’m a huge fan of the Greater Victoria Greenbelt Society and support their vision to create Mary Lake Nature Park. <<Tell the story here of how you became a supporter of Mary Lake>>.
That's why I've decided to be a Team Captain in their "Power of 2 Challenge." I'm really excited about the future we can help create by protecting this special piece of nature in the Highlands.
The "Power of 2 Challenge" works like that old shampoo commercial "and she told two friends, and they told two friends ..." Okay, I admit you might be too young to remember that. It demonstrates an important fact though - the power in the "Power of 2" comes from sharing with others.
As a Guardian member of Mary Lake I have promised to recruit two more Guardians. Those two - I'm hoping you'll be one of them - will then find two more Guardians each, and so on. Over the course of the nine week campaign more than 1,000 people will come to know about, share about and protect the Mary Lake property.
Besides "friend-raising," the Guardian memberhip fees in the Power of 2 Challenge will be used to pay down the mortgage on the 73 acres surrounding Mary Lake. The faster we pay down the mortgage, the sooner Mary Lake and its surroundings can become a nature park.
Will you join my Guardian team and help save this special piece of nature? This link will take you to my team page: <<Provide team name and link>>, where you can choose your Guardian membership type. I'll get an email when you've done that, and I'll be in touch to thank you, and to talk recruiting.
With thanks, <<Your Name>>
