Employer Matching Program
Did you know that your gift to GVGS may be doubled or even tripled? Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match tax-deductible charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. If your company offers matching gifts, request a matching gift form from your employer.
Send the completed, signed form along with your cheque to 499 Millstream Lake Road, Victoria, B.C. V9B 5H6
Tribute / In Memory / In Honour
The tradition of sending a funeral wreath or flower arrangement is somewhat fading. Today, many people want to provide a lasting impact to their community.
The idea behind it is that the flowers will fade, but a donation to a charity, such as GVGS, will help in perpetuity.
Notices stating you would like donations in lieu of flowers to be made to GVGS – for the Mary Lake Nature Sanctuary – can be captured in the obituary, or even over the telephone to family members, friends, and business associates.
Gifts of Stocks and Securities
Donations of publicly listed stocks, shares or securities are an efficient and cost-effective way to help GVGS. A gift of securities can have significant benefits:
- It is the most tax-effective way to donate, because it removes the taxation of capital gains.
- You will receive a tax receipt for the market value of your donation.
- The tax efficiencies of gifts of publicly traded securities may allow you to give more than you might have thought possible.
- While 2011 tax rules modified the tax benefits on gifts of flow-through shares, these remain an attractive gift alternative. Please seek advice from your financial advisor on donations of flow-through shares.

Donations in lieu of wedding gifts
You and your guests can contribute to the conservation of the beautiful natural area at Mary Lake Nature Sanctuary by donating to the GVGS a local non-profit and charitable organization. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Create your wedding tribute page
Just send us a photo of the bride and groom to be and your own personal message to let friends and family know you are protecting Canada’s beautiful landscapes while honouring your special day. NCC will do the rest. We will assign you a personal link to allow easy access for donations. Include this link in your wedding website or invitations and offer your family and friends the option to help Canada’s biodiversity and species at risk.
